Your 2005 TSLRA Executive Committee:

Melanie Hicks  Director - Fisheries and Wildlife (West Lake)
A message from Melanie:

"Hello to all the Twin Sister Lakes Ratepayer Association members!

Welcome to the Executive section of our website.  Please search through the site and contribute any links, comments or suggestions that you think would be valuable to your fellow members.

I would like to start off by saying thank-you to all the members who take such good care of our lakeside haven.  I have been blessed with the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful place.  It truly is a place of solace for me.

My family purchased our cottage and lakeside lot from Henry McFarlane in 1998.  Since then we have all done our part to make it feel like the perfect vacation spot.  My family and I have enjoyed our cottage get-away on the West Lake for almost 11 years now.

Four years ago, I was very excited to hear there was an opening on the TSLRA Board of Directors and that they needed someone to become the new Director of Fisheries and Wildlife.  This seemed like a perfect fit for me.  I have always had a love of nature and keen interest in the environment; I had even worked as a Naturalist.  I knew that this would be a great opportunity for me to use and build my skills and knowledge.

We are so very lucky to have such a wonderfully vibrant ecosystem for us to enjoy and explore.  I am happy to be able to be an environmental steward and contribute to the overall well being of a place I hold so dear.  I look forward to future endeavours as a member of the Board of Directors and as a cottager.  My goal is to maintain a happy and healthy lakeside environment for all of us to enjoy, for many years to come."

Barb Craig
  Secretary (East Lake)
Barb has been a cottager on East Twin Sisters Lake since the early 90's when she bought the Mulroney cottage. She has been on the executive most of that time since her Real Estate Agent and former Twin Sister Lakes cottager, Moe McAteer,  convinced her to join up! Serving on the executive is a great way to keep up-to-date on cottage issues and happenings and to meet fellow-cottagers. Barb enjoys cottaging year-round with her partner, Ron, children Mike (Liz), Stephanie (Dan), Wendy and Grandson, Noah.

Bonnie Danes  Director (TSL Rd.) top
Bonnie has lived and owned a house on Twin Sisters Lakes Road since 1975. Since that time she has been actively involved in many aspects within the community. Bonnie retired as a local teacher in 2002.

Always interested and committed to a natural environment, Bonnie feels that the serenity and beauty of Twin Sisters Lakes should be cherished and protected.

Bonnie currently resides on Crowe Lake with her husband George and daughter Rebecca. Her other three children and two grandsons live within a short travelling distance from Marmora.

Ray Ash  Past President (East Lake) top
Ray Ash serves the Executive in the capacity of Past President. Ray held the position of President for several years and brought many improvements to our lake community such as emergency first-aid air bottles, training in first-aid for lake residents, monitoring systems for water quality and better roadways.

Ray and Suzi have recently sold their cottage property and Ray has gracefully remained in the Past-President position at the Executive Boards request.

Ray is a Vice-president of Fast Freight transportation systems and his firm has financially supported our Lake Association in several projects.

Jack and Janet Watkins  President (West Lake) top
Jack Watkins has owned a cottage on the south shore at the end of the West Twin Sisters Lake since 1997. He and Janet are semi-retired and now operate Watkins Executive Suites in Peterborough, Ontario. These suites are luxury finished apartments available for overnight or longer term stays in Peterborough.

Jack became President of the Lake Association in 2003 and prior to that he was a Director. He is active in both the Association and also in the GEMM group who own and maintain the 200 acres at the west end of the lake. As President he sees his role as simply making certain the Twin Sisters Lakes remain as nice as when he fist came to the lake. He also writes the annual Newsletter.

Janet and Jack have a son Chris and Daughter Janet Lynn, Daughter-in-law Carrie and grandson Carter. Carter is quite good at keeping everyone hopping.

He is honoured to be the President of our Lake Association and enjoys the support of the Executive members.

Charlie O'Neill  Director (East Lake) top
Charlie (aka Fred) was brought up on a farm in the O'Neill Settlement. Upon Charlie and Shona's return from New Zealand in 1969, he began building their 16 x 20 cottage with his father. Over the years the cottage, like Topsy, grew with five additions!! As the family lived in Peterborough, summers and weekends were spent at the cottage.

Charlie and Shona are now retired and, as planned, reside from May-October at the cottage, and winter in sunnier climates when possible. They have 3 children Kelly (Pino), Rory (Maya) and Matthew. Rory's and Maya's two sons, Valen (3) and Rohan (1)complete the family.
